With Father’s Day here, I’ve found myself reflecting on what it means to be both a father and a business owner—and how proud I am to have all four of my sons connected to Katt Construction in one way or another.
From a young age, each of my boys worked in the company. Whether it was sweeping floors, running for tools, or helping pour concrete, running equipment, or carpentry they learned the value of hard work early on. I’ve always said they were born with mechanical minds, and it showed in how quickly they picked up the skills of the trade.
Choosing Their Own Path
As our company evolved from self-performing work to focusing more on construction management, my sons began to explore other paths.
Mitchell followed in my early footsteps, working as a laborer and concrete finisher. He’s now working for one of Katt Construction’s foremen, Scott Urban, who’s been running his own concrete construction company for over 20 years. That connection—seeing Mitchell learn from someone who I worked side by side with—brings things full circle in a meaningful way.
Christian, after serving as a U.S. Marine, went to college and later took a job as a truck driver. As Katt Construction enters a period of growth, we recently welcomed Christian back into the fold as a carpenter/superintendent. I’m excited to see him bring his discipline, experience, and drive into the next phase of our company.
Nicholas has been back with Katt Construction for several years and has worked his way up to become our head estimator. His dedication and sharp eye for detail have made him a vital part of our operation.
And Noah, while no longer in construction full-time, has carried forward the work ethic he developed with us. After stints with several construction firms and the Racine County Highway Department, he’s now a successful realtor with First Weber.
Heaps of Gratitude
It’s a great pleasure having the opportunity to work alongside my sons—whether full-time, part-time, or simply sharing in the legacy of this business. Watching them find their own paths while still being connected to what we’ve built at Katt Construction is something I’ll never take for granted.
I’m proud of all of them—and grateful every day to be their dad.
Happy Father’s Day.
