Katt is actively involved in scouting! I’m proud of our team members, the scouts, volunteers and instructors who participated in the Merit Badge Tech program in early March. This marked our fifth year of involvement.

The Home Repair Merit Badge consisted of: drywall installation and repair, wiring electrical circuits, concrete repair, building a toolbox, setting and repairing a toilet, painting, repairing window screens and railings, solder and gluing pipes.

Company president Herb Katt facilitated the Home Repair Badge Module. Jim Bishop, Katt Vice President and Katt carpenter foreman Carl Haak lead the drywall, painting, railing repair and the toolbox build. Katt laborer, Nicholas Katt headed up the concrete repair.

Approximately 200 Scouts participated in the program, which was held at Gateway Technical College (GTC) in Kenosha, WI. GTC instructors were matched up with Merit Badge Counselors to teach 16 different Merit Badges ranging from Architecture to Drafting to Welding. Each year the program has grown in the number of Merit Badges offered and the number of Scouts.

The program is so popular that they are seeking additional volunteer Merit Badge Counselors. Most every adult possesses skills which can be applied to be a Merit Badge Counselor. For more information, contact Herb Katt.
