With more than 3 million square feet of occupied space and 34 schools, the Racine Unified School District has plenty of property to improve and maintain during the summer months. Katt Construction has partnered with RUSD to carry out several key initiatives this past summer to help the district meets its goals including building renovations at 7 elementary schools, 3 middle schools and 3 high schools.
For example, schools have a great opportunity to serve as models of energy efficiency for their local communities. They can practice good sustainability habits with modern heating, cooling and ventilation systems.
Katt Construction provided the supervision of an owner’s representative’s installation of new windows, capable of conserving more energy and the installation of all new, energy efficient boilers, steam exchangers and roof top units. We also weatherized all of the doors and put in weather-stripping and ventilators in classrooms, reducing heating demand during the winter.
The long term end result for the school district will be reduced overall energy consumption, thus saving on-going costs of operation through reduced utility bills.
Dear Herb,
We’re honored RUSD chose us to help them improve their energy efficiency as well as several other renovations such as a new board room (shown above) and new floors. We installed 38,000 square feet of vinyl tile flooring at Park, Horlick, Jerstad-Agerholm, Schulte, Mitchell, Red Apple and Starbuck.
Racine Unified School District contracted with Katt Construction Corporation on renovations to a number of the school districts’ properties during our off season. Not only did Katt fulfill our need as the Owner Representative to complete the upgrades to the HVAC systems, weatherization of doors, replacement of windows, water conservation and electrical upgrades. Katt also renovated our board room, science rooms and installed new floors. I can always count on their crews to provide us with the expertise and sense of urgency needed to get the job done.
