marine veteran construction worker

Our latest Employee Spotlight introduces you to Christian Katt, a Marine Corps veteran who brings a wide range of experience and a hands-on approach to his work at Katt Construction.

A Career Built on Working with his Hands

Christian’s career path is known for his hands on approach. He earned his CDL and drove truck for years, and also served in the United States Marine Corps as an aviation mechanic. His military role combined his love of technology with a focus on procedures, safety, and tool control—skills that continue to shape how he approaches construction today.

“I’ve always enjoyed working with my hands,” Christian says. “In the Marines, I loved the precision of aviation mechanics. It’s all about attention to detail.”

Finding Meaning in the Work

For Christian, the satisfaction of construction comes from setting goals, meeting deadlines, and seeing the results of a finished project. “It’s hard work, but being able to look back at something I built and feel proud of it—that’s rewarding.”

He also values the environment of a family-run company. “The communication is strong, and there’s flexibility to learn and contribute in different ways,” he explains.

What Makes a Project Stand Out

Christian believes the best projects are the ones that demand a mix of design-build skills. “Framing, layout, drywall, taping, and painting. Every stage teaches you something new. Having a broad range of carpentry and trade skills is important to maintaining our high quality standards.”

That same interest shows up at home, where he builds custom furniture pieces like ottomans, game tables, and cabinets—projects that combine craftsmanship with personal creativity.

Outside of Work

Away from the job site, Christian enjoys reading about physics and new scientific discoveries, taking road trips to National Parks, snowboarding, and playing piano and guitar. Next on his travel list: exploring the Northeast, he’s got an eye on Acadia National Park.
